This WSU sponsored program is a great opportunity for landowner families and non-landowners here in our region and in Island County to learn how they can help their own family through the conservation of the land they own or to help others who own land.
Conservation of land can mean many different things to people. The way it is used in this program is to allow it to be used in a different way. That does not necessarily mean allowing the public to go onto your land . It could simply mean it is part of the viewscape of Island County. If you own forest lands and are producing timber, there are conservation methods through specific taxing programs that reduce your tax burden and allow your land to continue to work for you.
Most people are not fully aware of the various ways one can preserve special lands that leave a legacy for their family and the community at the same time. This workshop will provide landowners with the knowledge and tools they need to be able to leave such a legacy. It will may also help landowners see potentially significant economic benefits come to their family.
