This section went really well. Originally, we were going to
stop at Pebble beach, but the day was still young, and the
satellites were cooperating, so we just kept going till we got
to the last populated area on this end of the island. Barbara
wins the "Toes in the Sand" award, being the only one to take
off her shoes at the end of the adventure and put her
toes in the sand. Congratulations to Barbara!

Thursday morning Terry was the designated helper for Don, but since
they were doing the beach from Mabana to Summerland, which is just
below us, I decided to accompany them part way, then officially become
the helper in the PM section from Summerland to Wilkes-Gary Heights. Wes
helped with shuttle arrangements. It was a lovely partly overcast/sunny
day. Only encountered 3 people, 2 of which, though I don't know their
names, I have frequently waved to as I kayaked past. One lady, at Pebble
Beach, has lived right on the beach for 38 years, and commented they
are trying to sell because "...it's just getting to be to much." Wildlife
sightings for the day included atleast 5 eagles, a swimming river otter, a
jumping fish 12+inches(salmon?). Pebble Beach was notable for the fact
they have NOT built out on the spit, and it is a lovely pristine area!
The camera ran out of battery power after only 3 pictures, so we weren't
able to record much of the PM session.
