This was really Wildlife Central. Seems there were at least
a couple of families of eagles hanging around. Several times
there were 6-7 eagles flying at the same time. There were also
numerous herons and assorted other waterfoul. I parked near the
entry of Kristoferson Creek and walked to Barnum Point. Then
measured back past Kristoferson Creek, around to the back side of
Driftwood shores, then walked back to the car. Whew! The east
half of the cove was fairly manageable, but the whole west
side was a mud bath. Finally, I reached the dike along the
back side of Driftwood Shores. I could either wade through
a very deep mud channel, or work my way back through the mud
maze to where I could get up to the road, or thrash my way
through an inpenetrable wall of assorted briers, thorns and
nettles. I chose to thrash.
It wasn't bad, and only took about a half an hour or so. Once I finally got on the dike, the rest was easy. |
