This noxious weed eradication and lake restoration effort is entering its 5th year. The findings of a lake survey performed in August 2007 show no new growth of Egeria densa in Lone Lake. Very low levels of the herbicide fluridone remain in the lake and 808 triploid grass carp were introduced in April 2007. As the herbicide levels continue to decrease the pressure put on the weed infestation will shift from chemical to biological control.
Lone Lake is monitored monthly to chart clarity and dissolved oxygen. Vegetation surveys will again occur in August 2008 and for the subsequent three years to monitor vegetation reestablishment. |
